What Remains in Sound

This project began in November of 2021, when I interviewed my good friend Annika about her phone habits for a class. She told me that on occasion, she took voice memos on her phone to capture certain moments in time, so she could look back on them. Within a few months, I had started constantly recording moments in time to look back on. It wasn’t until about two years later that I looked back on the hundreds of recordings I had, and knew that I had to create something with this rich archive I had created. 

The recordings that I selected for this project are just some of the now upwards of three hundred recordings that I have taken in the last few years. I went through rounds of selecting my top 100, then 50, then 25, then finally my top 10. These recordings hold the aspects of my life that I hold most dear- family, friends, and new and different experiences. 

What makes these recordings so special is the connections and the people that I share them with. From family to lifetime friends to friends made just this past year, the people I surround myself with help support the life that I have created for myself. As you go through this game and experience my memories, it is my hope that you are able to connect with the experiences that I have had, and reflect on your own similar experiences and how your own friends and family uplift those experiences.
